Growing up my parents would play the Buena Vista Social Club album on a Sunday morning. This was my first introduction to Cuba and Cuban music. Fast forward to being 15 years old and pouring over travel catalogues and being curious as to why this tiny island country was stuck in a time warp.
From then on my 15 year old self vowed to travel to Cuba and South America.
